Ocean of Medicine

An Intimate Ayahuasca Retreat in Peru, Where Shipibo Wisdom Meets the Pacific Ocean

7 Days · 6 Nights · 3 Ceremonies · Maximum 3–5 Participants

Ocean of Medicine is an intimate retreat by Psychonauta Foundation, bringing together traditional Shipibo ceremonies, experienced facilitation and the beauty of Peru’s northern coast.

With only 3–5 participants, this experience offers space for ceremony, reflection and personal connection, with the Pacific Ocean just steps away.

The Shipibo Tradition

The heart of Ocean of Medicine is the living ceremonial tradition of the Shipibo people of the Peruvian Amazon. Their ancestral knowledge, plant practices and traditional icaros, ceremonial songs passed down through generations, form the foundation of this experience.

Our ceremonies are guided by two experienced Shipibo practitioners, Maestra Maribel and Maestro César, whose distinct personalities and ceremonial styles bring complementary qualities to the retreat.

Maestra Maribel

Maestra Maribel is the daughter of Maestro Miguel and a guardian of her family’s ancestral knowledge. Her icaros are powerful, rhythmic and full of life, bringing distinctive energy and vitality to her ceremonies.

Her presence combines powerful feminine energy with sensitivity, balance and strength, creating a vibrant and deeply engaging ceremonial experience.

Maestro César

A Shipibo maestro from Pucallpa, César brings a unique background to his work. Before dedicating himself to plant medicine, he worked as a Director of Photography for Canon Peru. He is the son-in-law of Maestro Miguel and frequently works alongside Maribel, a member of the renowned Mahua family.

His ceremonies feature melodic, energetic icaros and a calm, balanced presence. Combining traditional Shipibo knowledge with empathy, attentiveness and an understanding of Western participants, César brings warmth and professionalism to the ceremonial space.

Together, Maribel and César offer complementary approaches rooted in Shipibo tradition, each bringing their own voice, experience and relationship with the ceremonial practice.

Captain Blez

Captain Blez is co-founder of Psychonauta Foundation with years of experience leading retreats in Peru.

His work combines retreat facilitation, participant preparation, integration and cross-cultural collaboration. Having worked alongside Indigenous practitioners over many years,

Blez is committed to creating thoughtful spaces that respect traditional knowledge while offering participants clear guidance and personal support.

We see a retreat as more than a series of ceremonies. Preparation, the quality of the environment and integration afterward are all important parts of the journey.

Your Home by the Pacific

Our retreat takes place in a private beachfront villa directly on Las Pocitas beach, approximately 10 minutes from Máncora.

The villa offers a comfortable coastal setting for rest and reflection, with:

  • Direct beach access and Pacific Ocean views
  • Four bedrooms, each with a private bathroom and shower
  • A swimming pool
  • A garden with palm trees and outdoor relaxation areas

Ocean of Medicine combines traditional Amazonian ceremonial practices with the comfort of a coastal villa and the freedom to enjoy the ocean.
