“Discipline
is about giving up
the search for entertainment.”
These words from Chögyam Trungpa are really what way of the dieta is about, but apply equally to correct attitude in life and in the process of focused work with the plants. It is not about rejection of the richness of the world as it comes and manifests in front of us, but about reining in the greedy mind which always wants to add. It has nothing to with inherent quality of the thing/activity itself, but everything with intention and awareness of it.
“Fruition” implies
that at some future time
you will feel good.
One of the most powerful
Buddhist teachings is:
As long as you are wishing
for things to change,
they never will.
As long as you’re wanting
yourself to get better,
you won’t.
As long as you are oriented
toward the future,
you can never relax
into what you already have
or already are.”
